Did my math after reading an FB entry about achieving work life balance and to do that, 12 hours at work and 12 hours outside work is balanced.. Hmm..

Let's see.. First thing that comes to your mind when you get up say 7am is get ready and travel to work so work starts at 7am effectively.. So if you diligently work for the 8 hours and try to reach home by 7pm, it will be a good 12 hours at work..

Alrighty, your life now starts! At 7pm till the next morning 7am of which 7 hours is for you to sleep (in order to be able to concentrate at work the next day) and the balance 5 hours is for...

Exercise
Shower
Prepare dinner Or have dinner and chit chat with family/ friends
Take care of kids' needs
Play with kids
Watch tv
Surf net
Reading
Studying and doing assignments (for those studying part time courses)

Somehow the 5 hours ain't enough unless we give up on our sleep but work may be compromised the next day (depends what you do) and the vicious cycle begins..
Arrrggghhh...

Well, so are you balanced? 12/12 is good? It jolly well be cos there's no other way around it for a normal working lifestyle in this society of ours... ;)
