Loved the "aching" feeling..

Well, completed the run! But not to my expectation.. sigh.. During the run, my SO aggravated an old injury he sustained in 2006... It made him realised that he can no longer run for long distance.. the max he could ran was 9km before his kneecap felt kinda being cuffed by a tight "grip"..the result of a stretched ligament not fully cured despite his numerous visits to a famous sinseh... It's probably the uneven ground that brought back the old injury, he thought... Even after he tried to run following a short rest, the "grip" quickly came by and locked his knee-cap.. He had to walked the remaining 12km, feeling ocassional pain.. But of course, as all runners would do, he jogged for the last 300m to the finishing line where the crowd was... can't look too lousy in front of so many people even though he has spent the past two hours walking the 12km.. Anyway, he has decided to hang his running shoes for long distance running from now on... As for me, I carried on running after I walked with him for a while. After the 16km mark, I felt pain on the sole of my left leg which caused me to walk and run intermittently till the finishing point. It was good effort still and I may still consider to go for my full marathon end of this year. In the meantime, I shall just continue with my usual runs and swims to keep fit...

I loved the after-feel from the run though! Aching all over... this means that my muscles have worked hard and I have in fact worked the muscles which I hardly used during my usual exercise routine.. yeah!

SuRprISe!

"Ding-dong"... "Ding-dong"

Hmm... who is it? Looking at the timing, it seemed early for Cally's dad to pop by to pick her up. So I didn't dare to open the door. Asked my SO to open and to our surprise, it's Papa Chua.

He came over with a cup warmer and a portable pot cooker to give me? I think? He said his friends gave him so he brought it over. I guess that's just a tool he used to come over. Then I showed him to the room where the princesses were and he went in to take a look at the both of them and left shortly after. The whole visit was less than 10 mins.

So he tooked the first step, must have taken him a lot of courage to decide to walk over and press the door bell. Does this mean that he is fully convinced and okay with the move? or he still holds hope for them to move back to stay with him? I have no idea..

I guess it will take time for him to come to terms with the fact that his kids are unlikely to stay with him and learn to be contented with the occassional visits/presence of the kids during family dinners or special occasions.

Dinner @ Brunch

Had a dinner outing with the Company @ Brunch at Pan Pacific Hotel last Friday. For a moment I wondered if we are having dinner or brunch.. haha.. okay, lame. This place is called Brunch cos it serves brunch throughout the day, everyday.

We had the all-you-can-eat barbecue dinner at the breezy alfresco pool deck, feasted on tantalising freshly-grilled succulent seafood and meats served to our tables. There was also appetiser and dessert bars where you will find salads, pastas, fruits and desserts. And we had unlimited pours of wine, beer and soft drinks. It ain't cheap but who cares, it's paid for by the Company so we ate and drank to our hearts' content.. hee..

We stopped halfway thru' the dinner to watch the live telecast of the table tennis match between LCW and GY. This match will determine who will win the bronze medal. It was quite a close match but GY won, of course. GY was good and she really sweat alot! During the match, I noticed that LCW had the chinese character "wen"(meaning steady) written on her left palm. She wasn't very steady towards the end of the game though but good effort still. Made me feel like going to Lester's place to play table tennis one of these days.. hmm...

We stayed to catch the fireworks display at 930pm, by France (I think). We stood around an open area at the alfresco pool deck and managed to see a bit of the fireworks cos a big part of it was blocked by the Oriental Hotel. It was nice and reminds me of the times I join my friends to view such fireworks display. All parted and went home after that and I took 1.5 hours to reach home from Marina, goodness!

All those fireworks display that I have seen so far is nothing compared to the one displayed at the Olympics closing ceremony. That is what I call awesome!

Training season
I have started training again for the marathons this year.. starting July..
The training schedule was set but not adhered to strictly.. sigh.. Jess ah.. Jess..
BRP and ECP are the chosen training sites..
Every training run will be an extra one round from the last training run..

But I didn't manage to achieve my target for the training runs before embarking on my first run of this year which will be held on this coming Sunday, 24 August, hope I can make it though my training was a bit slack over the past month..

Felt motivated after watching The Olympic games on Sunday morning.. The women's marathon, best timing 2hours 26mins.. so freaking fast! That's like the type of timing for half marathons if not faster.. So I hope that I can take less time to complete my half marathon this Sunday..

Cai Xin Feng Bao - Episode 1 out of ??..
Since the day Ritz junior had company, it has been 10 days and still counting, sounds familiar? hehe..

You-know-who is still feeling sore about this... You-know-who thinks there is a big scam/agenda behind this whole thing which you-know-who does not want to enlighten us and insist we know what we are up to.. omg.. *roll eyes*.. when we have told you-know-who numerous times the reason is just that simple, why does you-know-who have to complicate things..

I must say that my generation is not whatever you-know-who says, it will be treated as an order and followed strictly. Similarly for the different sexes, it's no longer whatever the man says, the woman will just listen and follow. This is just evident of the changing times..

Can anyone please enlighten you-know-who on the changing times or enlighten me about the agenda/scam you-know-who is talking about.. REWARD: S$50,000 worth of...

When I put on the Traditional Thinking hat and the New Generation thinking hat... I get all these..

TT says: Folks want to stay with own kids, especially SONS..

NG says: Kids want to provide the best for the family when they start to have their own family and unlikely to stay with parents, where possible

TT says: Folks tend to decide for kids/kids' family whatever they think is best in an authoritative manner

NG says: Kids are able to decide what is best for themselves with little involvement from the parents, parents will be informed

TT says: Folks' want "face" and are resistant to change, obstinate

NG says: The world is round, shouldn't every individual learn to let go and try to make an effort to adapt to changing times?

Just stating some simple yet harsh facts which will seem tough and unacceptable to those who have been/are wearing the traditional thinking hat..

I probably can understand where you-know-who is coming from when I put on the traditional thinking hat.. but I'm so sorry it really doesn't work in this generation so have to throw that hat out the window! Learn to let go of some things, that is the key to happiness!

Well, there is never a peaceful year in my family, every year there will be something, sometimes light drizzle, sometimes heavy rain, sometimes storms... the tension felt during these dampening weathers is really damaging to relationships but it just have to happen somehow... So I have decided to call all that is happening the "Cai Xin Feng Bao".. haha.. This shall be the 1st epsiode.. I know every household have their own scriptures, and I think ours would be interesting to read... wonder how long it will take for the storm to be over.. Maybe as the saying goes, "Jie ling hai xu xi ling ren" ba..

A piece of advice for you-know-who, "The kids have really grown up, time to convince yourself that it's time to take a back seat and enjoy the ride! This does not mean your life is losing its meaning, it just opens a new meaning in life for you. Try looking around you and cherish the one who has been standing by you all this while. Hope you realise it!"

Durian feasts..
Our dear Chui Ming's birthday is on 3rd August. Tian planned to treat Chuiming to a sumptuous dinner buffet @ Carlton Hotel, international style with durian dishes and of course, not forgetting the real durian. It's been about 6 months since the last time I went for such a dinner buffet. If I didn't remember wrongly, the last one was at The Line @ Shangri-la Hotel.
Anyway, we had our meal indoors first before we proceeded to the outdoors to savour the durians. The chef picked and opened the durians for us. Tasty! Took some photos during the buffet. Once again, too excited over eating and forgot to take pics of all the things I ate. Told my SO to remind me next time before I dig in..
The above foods are pretty much similar to what you will see at the usual international buffets.. but this one below is different..

Roti prata with thick and creamy durian puree... yummy!..

And.... the finale...

Not this one..

This then is the one that we were all waiting for...

On the actual day itself, we met up for dinner at Pizza Hut and had another round of durians. This time we went to Geylang to savour durians! My SO don't really favour durians but he accompanied us anyway.. he's okay with this but prefer durian stuffs in other forms like kuehs or whatever cos they are less slimy.. hehe..

Angus House
We have once again gathered for a nice good meal and this time, we went to Angus House.

Where is it? Takashimaya level 5..
Ambience? Simple, jazzy and cosy..
Service? Good..
Food? Yummylicious!

Took some photos during the meal but forgot to take the main course.. Boy, we sure are gluttons! haha.. Nay, we were just hungry (*nod-nod* "yes..yes.. we were"). However, the price of the meal was not cheap and they do serve pasta at a pretty afforable price.. Thinking of trying the pasta served there one of these days.. hmm...

Bread with butter - I like it cos I'm a sucker for bread, I can just eat bread, bread and more bread..

Carrot soup - tastes nice!

Starter (can't remember what it's called) but there's prawn, salmon and cheese cracker..

Tiramisu - dar dar's favourite
