Break & BBQ...

Just as I mentioned, this couple is so different. They organised a chalet cum barbeque for the 'sisters' and 'brothers' who helped out at their wedding over the weekend! It was indeed nice to gather up with them again and we had lotsa fun playing mj and bbq-ing.

Dar dar and I stayed over at the chalet but the rest could/did not due to commitments/ for whatever reasons. On the first night after we checked in, we had a mini barbeque together. We made "mushroom swiss" burgers, bbq style.

We bbq-ed the beef patties, mushrooms and the burgers. After which, we put cheese on the burgers and left it by the side of the gauze for the cheese to melt. Once that's done, we sliced the juicy mushrooms and put them on the cheese, followed by the patties and lettuce on the burgers.

Of course, we prepared some sides also.. sotong balls, cheese hotdogs... simple bbq! I like it lots! Maybe can do it again but one burger is as much as I can stomach. But those who can eat more, we can make different types of burgers.

On the second night, the bbq was great too! Just like any bbq, we had chicken wings, otahs, satays, sambal sotongs, sambal fish, sweet potatoes, corn, marshmallows, soft drinks and red wine. A portion of the foods were ordered from Lee & Wee Brothers and I personally liked the otahs and chicken wings best! Yum-yum! Finally tried something different instead of from Ezyb.

For once, I get to play hours of mj with friends. Lady luck was not on my side initially but slowly, she came by and I won some $$$!... hehe...

This bbq marks the end of my long break from work! But it certainly was a good break cos I managed to accomplish stuffs that I have been wanting to do but did not have the time.

I've got a french test last Saturday too and I did study for it cos I was on leave! I hope I will do well! Wish me luck!

Well-written...

Finally caught the movie, Ghosts of Girlfriend's Past... the script was well written and it all started with this advice..

"If there is one thing you learn tonight, it's this. The power in a relationship lies with whoever cares less."

Hence, he gathered all these...

"Love is magical comfort food for the weak and uneducated. Yeah, it makes you feel all warm and relevant but in the end it leaves you weak, dependant and fat!"

"I wish I could believe in all this crap, I really do. I also wish I could believe in the Easter Bunny, the missile shield and strippers with a heart of gold. Unfortunately I am condemned to see the world as it really is, and love, love is a myth."

"To me, marriage is an archaic and oppressive institution that should have been abolished years ago."

However, he was somehow convinced.. and said this to Sandra (you've got to watch the movie to find out about the "somehow" and who is Sandra)...

"You've got to risk love Sandra! I didn't and look at me, I'm a lonely ghost of a man. It doesn't mean that you're never going to get hurt but the pain you feel will never compare to the regret that comes from walking away from love."

and said this while giving his best man's toast to his brother...

"I think that maybe happiness comes from caring more about people rather than less. Nobody proves that better than my kid brother, Pauli. Brother, you give love to everyone and you require none in return. From this day on, I want to be more like you. "

It was a nice love comedy with a pretty woman and charming guy!!! ;)..

It's been a while..

.. since I took a stretch of leave.. it's feels good though it's only a few days... I have planned to do more reading, more napping, more self-pampering during these few days and also try to clear some personal "back-log".. sigh..

It's not made of wood..

Received a wonderful surprise from dar dar on Saturday morning, the moment I wake up.. ;p.. OMG! Did not expect this from him but really love it lots! We also went for a weekend stay at Crowne Plaza Hotel, Changi Airport. Had a relazing time eating, swimming and resting.. All these is to celebrate our Wood anniversary! The actual day is three days away and I will be on leave.. cos it's a special day to me.. forever so..

Nice runway view and so cool to get a close up view of the planes getting ready to take off... from slowly getting into position, picking up speed and once it's ready, it will take off...

Bird's eye view of the nice, cosy pool..

Finally get to swim without naughty kids in the pool, reminds me of the times I swum at this nice, cosy pool at one of my colleague's place . Missed those times but the rainy weather stopped me from going there since dunno when. Nowadays we get less rain but an increased intensity of heat everyday.. gosh! I hate the weather so much!!! Someone get me outta here!!!

One of my favourite activities is to swim and laze by the pool, read and nap and then swim, read/nap again and again.. I think I can do that a whole day but I cannot afford to live in a condominium.. so the public swiming pool, I go..

Papa's day

We went to Yumcha for dinner and bought pressies for Papa Chua. The dinner was nice but I must say it's not cheap! Thereafter, we went for dessert at a shop nearby and I tried its poplular snow ice dessert, durian flavour. It is different from the durian dessert I had around Bugis area but I must say that one tastes nicer cos of the creamy puree containng lotsa durian flesh.. yummy!

Quiznos & Tully's

This place has been around for pretty long and every morning as I stop by the shop opposite it to grab my usual breakfast, I will wonder when I will really go try the breakfast!

Then this morning, dar dar had the time so we went to have the sandwiches from Quiznos and drinks from Tully's. Had ham & cheddar and bacon & cheddar on wheat bread and his ice latte and her hot cocoa.

The sandwiches were light and small.. the iced-latte was okay.. and the hot cocoa was the coolest.. it's very different from the ones I usually had at coffee-bean, mac, AF and starbucks.

The hot cocoa was creamy and chocolatey! I like it... ;).. but can make a "hot" babe like me hotter... haha..

Finally, dar dar and I had the chance to try the yummy salads at Juiced Rawbars, together after a long while. I'm gonna miss it very soon..

Tiong Bahru Market

Last night we went to TBRM and had these, total cost approx S$20, each person about 5 bucks.. so worth it and satisfying!

Hokkien noodle
Char Kuay Tiao
Chwee-kuehs
Lor-mee
Curry chicken with bread
Coke & Zero-coke
Cheng-teng x 2
Ice-kacang

Really love hawker centres (minus the heat), you get a variety of foods at an affordable price!
We came up with a list of places (hawker centres, nice eateries, never-been-to places etc) to go for our meals! So once we checked out the place, we will strike it off from our list.. so fun!

He's a hero!

Today we went to the hospital to visit Papa Tan and observant dar dar noticed this old man diagonally opposite Papa Tan, trying to strangle himself with a towel! Dar dar signalled to me but I didn't believe so I told him to take a closer look first and check whether the towel is wrapped around his neck or covering his neck only. Dar dar took a closer look and true enough, he was trying to strangle himself as he pulls at the towel and his face was turning purple. OMG!

So we called for the nurse who came by to check and try to take the towel away. At that instance, the old man cried out and held the towel tightly in his hand that the nurse had to use force to pull the towel away. He cried as he mumbled, "I want to die..".. and mentioned feeling pain here and there, better to die.. sigh..

We also heard that this was not his first attempt to commit suicide, the other time he used the "call for help" wire and coil it around his neck to strangle himself but he was caught by the nurses.

So sad to see him so wanting to end his life... Why would one person choose to end his/her life? Is there nothing that can be done? But I must say it takes a lot of courage to do it..

We heard him mention that he is 85 years old already but to us, he doesn't look that old.. Wanted to go over and tell him, "Uncle, you are really 85? You look younger than your age leh" to cheer him up..

Think positive, anything can be done one!!! As the Chinese saying goes, chuan dao qiao tou zi ran zhi! Ai zai... ;)..

Next time..

We went out with Lester and Xunni on Saturday for a seafood dinner at Owen Restaurant at Turf city. It was a meal to celebrate both their birthdays together and were glad that both of them enjoyed the meal! We had wanted to order the king crabs but it was kinda pricey and we will only get to try one of the methods to cook the crab, so we decided next time ba. We had drunken prawns, butter crab and chilli crab with the fried buns. And now, I'm so looking forward to the NEXT TIME to try my king crab! Yum-yum..

We walked around Turf City for a while and as there is nothing much there, we left the place for Taka. We shopped around Taka and had a late night snack at Coffee Club before going home to change... heehee..

Change for what?..keke...

Change to go play mahjong at Jacky's place with T&M cos we will surely play till middle of the night and we sure did, ended at 4am manz.. Lady luck was with me last night and I won some money! Had thought of loitering a while and go for breakfast together since it was almost morning. But I have tuition the next morning so must go back to sleep for a while. *yawnzzZzzz*

More mj sessions at night lately, fun but tiring.. ;)..

Extroverts vs Introverts

Extroverts tend to be gregarious, assertive and interested in seeking out excitement. Introverts, in contrast, tend to be more reserved, less outgoing, and less sociable. They are not necessarily loners but they tend to have smaller circles of friends and are less likely to thrive on making new social contacts. Introverts are less likely to seek stimulation from others because their own thoughts and imagination are stimulating enough.

There is probably a thin line between someone who is an introvert by nature and someone who is selective on whom to speak to.. Shall give ppl the benefit of doubt...

When a group consists of introverts and extoverts and when the extroverts stop talking, silence sets in.. that is perfectly normal.. cos they are humans afterall..

MRT..

On my way home on the MRT the other day and saw this.. reminds me of Hongkong.. (copycat but sometimes need to copy to improve.. haha.. )

HRC raawwkkkks!!!

Frequent HRC pretty often lately just for drinks and live band performance (there is a different theme on different days..)! We've been there for dinner but it's too costly so we will dine out and go there for snacks and drinks.. Really cool and relaxing being there.. I forsee more of such visits cos we all enjoy it and it opens till late! It totally fits in to my busy schedule which only allows me to reach home around 7plu-8plus before I can change and zoom out again... hehe..

And this latest visit, Danson joined us and he gave this to Ming and Ming gave me.. thanks brudder! Love it..

Suddenly feel like playing my Wii games, specially the rayman raving rabbids and the guitar hero... woooh-ooh!!!!

Bukit Timah Hill

Before I had the chance to plan this in my busy schedule and check it out, my company organised an "excursion" up the hill.. I love it, walking in the nature and all the way up to the summit was just the thing I like to do. If I have the time, I will try the different routes as I heard some of the routes are tougher. It stands at an altitude of 163.63 metres, nothing comparable but a good workout..

Gonna go there again... soon...

After the "excursion", we went to this pub at Boat Quay called The White Bar and ordered pizzas from Perfect Crust with drinks (beer, fruit juice and free flow of soft drinks). I like the place alot, it was cozy and there's a pool table, this exciting soccer game, photo hunt machine and karaoke... one-stop entertainment containing all the activities I enjoy doing.. cool!

Hmmph!

Ms M. Ulcer has a very bad temper and has been "flaring" up at my dar dar way too often lately making his days so sianzZzz and "flaring" up at the same time. I don't even flare up at him, how could she?! So decided to study on her.. hmmph!

<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<

What causes it?

There are many processes which can lead to ulceration of the oral tissues. In some cases they are caused by an overreaction by the body's own immune system.

Factors that appear to provoke mouth ulcers include stress, fatigue, illness, injury from accidental biting, hormonal changes, menstruation, sudden weight loss, food allergies and deficiencies in vitamin B12, iron and folic acid.

How to treat it?

Treatments based on antibiotics and steroids are reserved for severe cases, and should be used only under medical supervision. Some people benefit from using the over-the-counter topical gel Bonjela, which contains choline salicylate -- choline salicylate is a local analgesic that helps to reduce the pain and inflammation associated with oral ulcers, or Oracort prescribed by doctors.

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Tried many ways to alleviate the pain and restrict diet in a way so that it can recover faster. It totally kills the mood for entertainment.. At times, we use hand language and I ask close-ended questions to communicate as it's just too painful for him to talk.. sayang-sayang.. Maybe need to try taking certain pills to test if it's a lack of that particular vitamin or mineral in his body that causes it..

Hope Ms Ulcer stop pestering my dar dar and keep her distance... he's mine!!!!!

Ooohs....

Oooh....Homecooked laksa with T&M yesterday! Yummy! T&M came over and we cooked together, it is one of our favorite activities apart from lateh sessions, supper, mj and wii.. We also prepared chicken wings, lemon coke and had lychees and a honey mango for desserts. A week ago, we had steak, spaghetti with beef meatballs and longan sprite, wonder what's cooking the next time we gather.. hmm...

The laksa

The Lemon Coke
Oooh... we have been playing mj more often on Fri & Sat nights.. yeah-yeah! This is photo taken during dinner time before we went to play mj... Le-Le is about 7 months old now (First cry: 12 October) and she can sit without support. Her milestones seem quite timely with the "sayings".. soon she should be crawling etc.. etc..

Oooh... or ooops?.. something unpleasant happened in the family again.. sigh.. we are upset by "it" but what's done cannot be undone.. let nature run its own course then..

Oooh... not knowing what to have for lunch, we went to Mac for my favorite hot chocolate and had a not-so-nice muffin... one hot choc for me and one for dar dar.. so cute and creative.. ;p..

Le-Le went to Jurong Point! (with all of us.. J&F, T&M and J&V...) We went late night shopping at Jurong Point NTUC the other day and took photos with Le-Le.. haha... followed by prata and then went home to zzzZZzzz.. Le-Le was still awake on her way home while the parents were dozing off in the car... but she did dozed off while we were shopping in NTUC.. keke..

Dar dar with Le-Le

Moi et Le-Le (nice "motion" pic hor hor, with Nokia music phone..)

Ming with Le-Le (looking so shy)

Oooh... how can I forget to post the beautiful birthday cake for Elsie and Chloe and the yummy agar-agars!

Hyperthyroidism

Arrrgghhh... it's back to 'haunt' me again..

I don't like to take medicine but I have to...

I already cannot accept what it has done to me but I have to...

I don't know why it relapses again... frustrated but no choice, so I have to start popping pills again for 18 months till November 2010!

Well, I should be glad and feel consoled in a way that it took a longer time frame (1 year compared to the 6 months for the previous relapse) before coming back to look for me again..

Welcome back! Mr Hyperthyroid.. *bitter-smile*
